| After
graduating from The University of Bordeaux
in 1974 with a business degree in marketing plus a
DUAD in Oenology and Wine Tasting
under the distinguished Prof.
Emile Peynaud, François came
to the United States where he worked for Bon Vin,
Inc. as a representative in Texas. A year later he
was offered the responsibilities of wine purchasing
and sommelier at OZ
Restaurant & Club in Dallas.

In
July 1977, François opened
La Cave as a Wine Shop and Wine Bar &
Bistro, innovating the wine-by-the-glass
concept in the Southwest. This is
where in 1978 he met his sweetheart, Anne,
who soon was to become his wife and a partner in the
business. |
While
keeping it a family owned enterprise, François
developed La Cave Warehouse to what
it is today and he looks forward to celebrating 35
years in business coming up! |

François
and Anne have two children, Claire and Luc. Claire
lives in Los Angeles and works in the production side
of feature films. Luc, an Air Force Academy graduate,
who served in both Afghanistan and Iraq as a Combat Rescue
Officer,
is a
graduate of Columbia University MBA program in New York City.

François
is part owner of Domaine de Barbeyrolles,
a Bergerac vineyard located one hour due East of Bordeaux.
The estate has been in François’ family
for the last 200 years. The wine is sold exclusively
by the family in France and by La Cave Warehouse in the US.
